Supplier Scorecard & Landed Cost Template
Three suppliers quote you three prices. The cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest supplier once freight, duty, fees and minimum order quantity are in the picture — and price is not the only thing you are buying anyway. This workbook puts all of it on one set of numbers so the decision stops being a feeling.
One-time payment · Seven tabs · Worked example included · Instant download after checkout · Opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice
What is in it
| Tab | What it does |
|---|---|
| Start Here | The colour legend and a one-screen tour. Amber cells are yours to type in; grey cells calculate themselves. |
| Settings | Set insurance rate, broker fee, port and handling, target gross margin and your working-capital ceiling once. Every other tab reads from here. |
| Landed Cost | One row per supplier quote. Returns the true landed unit cost, how far it sits above the FOB price, the resulting gross margin, and a pass or below-target flag. |
| Supplier Scorecard | Score each supplier 1–10 on eight criteria and set your own weights. The ranking updates as you type. |
| MOQ Break-Even | Enter each price tier the supplier offered. Shows the units you must sell to break even and the cash each tier puts at risk. |
| Quote Comparison | The quotes side by side, on landed cost rather than the quoted price. |
| Dashboard | The recommendation, with the numbers behind it. |
How to use it
- Open Start Here and read the colour legend. Amber means you type in it; grey means the workbook fills it and you leave it alone.
- In Settings, set your insurance rate, broker fee, port and handling fee, target gross margin, and the most cash you are willing to tie up in one purchase order.
- In Landed Cost, enter one row per supplier quote: SKU, supplier, FOB unit price, order quantity, freight, duty percentage, fees and your target sell price.
- In Supplier Scorecard, score each supplier one to ten on the eight criteria, then adjust the weights in column C so they reflect what actually matters to you. They must total 100 percent.
- In MOQ Break-Even, enter each price tier you were offered and read off the break-even volume and the cash at risk.
- Read Quote Comparison and Dashboard for the side-by-side and the recommendation.
Five sample quotes across five suppliers are already loaded so you can watch every formula work before you trust it. Type over the sample rows when you are ready. Nothing is locked or protected.
About the duty rates
The duty lookup table in Settings ships blank on purpose. A duty rate depends on your ten-digit classification and your country of origin, and it moves when trade policy moves; a number printed in a spreadsheet you downloaded months ago is exactly the kind of number that costs money. Confirm yours against the official tariff schedule or with your customs broker, then type it in.
The worked example does carry figures in the duty and tariff columns. They are there to make the formulas visible, not to tell you what your duty is. Type over them.
Opening it
In Excel, double-click the file — it works in Excel 2010 and later, Excel for Mac and Excel Online. In Google Sheets, go to File, then Import, then Upload, and every formula carries over. Numbers and LibreOffice open it natively.
